The Opening Ceremony of World Hydropower Congress 2023 was held today, 31 October 2023 and will take place until 2 November under the theme ‘Powering Sustainable Growth’, and under the leadership of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. It was held in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the state electricity provider PLN.
This event was officially opened by the welcome address of the President of (International Hydropower Association), Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, and the opening remarks by Mr. President Joko Widodo. The World Hydropower Congress is an important conference for hydropower industry players. It is particularly relevant in the midst of the current global energy crisis. Water is a clean, reliable and affordable source of renewable energy, and has the potential to be a key solution in helping countries achieve net zero emission goals.
The 2023 World Hydropower Congress was attended by more than 1,000 leading decision-makers, innovators and experts from industry, government, finance, civil society and academia.
