The 1st ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting held on 31 March 2023.
The meeting was attended by Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (AFMGM) from 9 ASEAN countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam), as well as representatives from 6 international organizations, namely the Asian Development Bank (ADB), ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Financial Supervisory Board (FSB), Bank for International Settlement (BIS) and World Bank.
At the AFMGM this year, members welcomed the theme of Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023, namely “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”, with three strategic thrusts: (i) recovery and rebuilding, (ii) the digital economy, and (iii) sustainability.
Since 28th March 2023, a total of 13 high-level meetings (HLM) including the ASEAN Central bank Deputies Meeting, ASEAN Finance Deputies Meeting, ASEAN +3 Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting and numerous supporting meetings as bilateral meetings, gala seminars, and high-level dialogues have been held with Central Bank Governors and Finance Ministers as well as Deputies carried theme of “Discover Indonesia” specifically highlighting the culture and tourism of Sulawesi and Kalimantan.
Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship period began on 1 January 2023 and will last for a year until 31 December 2023.
Through the theme of the ASEAN Chairmanship, namely: “ASEAN Matters: “Epicentrum of Growth”,
Indonesia is determined to direct ASEAN cooperation in 2023 to continue and strengthen ASEAN’s relevance in responding to regional and global challenges, and strengthen ASEAN’s position as the epicenter of regional economic growth, for the prosperity of the people of ASEAN.
