IMF-World Bank Group decided to choose Indonesia as the host-country among 189 member countries for the Annual Meetings, through the four stages which have been undertaken since 2014, by expression of interest and submission of proposal, site evaluation by IMF-WBG Meeting Team Secretariat, and signing the agreement for the Annual Meetings 2018 which officially marked that Indonesia has been appointed as the host country of the event.
The Annual Meetings normally held once a year, which generally take place in September/October, have customarily been held in Washington for two consecutive years and in another member country in the third year. The Annual Meetings outside the United States had been held between 1947—2018, Indonesia become the 25th host-country and Bali is the 10th city among the Asia’s city had been chosen. This year’s events took place in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia, October, 8-14, 2018.
In 2016, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) has been selected as the official venue or main campus of the Annual Meetings 2018.

The Annual Meetings was registered by more than 34,000 attendees which includes 3,500 delegates from 189 member countries, roughly 1,000 media representatives, and more than 5,000 participants representing the private sector, the banking community, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and also observers and parliamentarians.

As the main campus of this prestigious event, BNDCC also hosted of more than 270 meetings and other events which includes high level meetings, official meetings, bilateral and small meetings such as G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, High Level Parliamentary, Commonwealth Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, G24 Deputies, Bretton Woods Committee, G7 Finance Ministers, Development Committee, International Monetary Fund Committee, Early Warning Exercise, and ASEAN Roundtable.

During the Annual Meetings, Indonesia also show casing traditional art and craft at BNDCC’s courtyard Taman Jepun. The exhibition displayed traditional art performances, handy crafts from Bali, North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, etc and also Indonesia Food Festival which provided by BNDCC culinary team.

On Friday, 12 October the Plenary Session of the Annual Meetings held at BNDCC’s Nusa Dua Hall and officially opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia H.E. Joko Widodo, and attended by Managing Director of IMF Christine Lagarde, President of World Bank Dr. Jim Yong Kim, 5 ASEAN Head of States, Chair the IMF Board of Governors Petteri Orpo, Governors of Central Banks, Ministers, Ambassadors and Senior Officials, IMF and World Bank Group officials, and more than 3,500 delegates of IMF-WBG member countries.
