On February 22nd to 25th 2024, the 39th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress was held in conjunction with the 49th PERDAMI (Annual Meeting of Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association). This event is eagerly awaited by many ophthalmic practitioners since this is the second APAO scientific meeting held after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Asia- Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) is a supranational organization that welcomes the participation from ophthalmic societies in the Asia-Pacific region. It is the major driving force of ophthalmic development in the Asia-Pacific region. With the theme “Beyond All Limits”, the APAO 2024 Congress showcased the evolving future of eye care by inviting over 700 internationally renowned speakers to present the latest discoveries, innovations, and ideas in various ophthalmic subspecialties. This event enables the opportunity of knowledge exchange, and facilitated network between like-minded delegates to collaborate.
The APAO 2024 Bali Congress was held with the attendance of 6,000 delegates from various countries. Through this event, the association aims to create an educational as well as enjoyable scientific program. The participants of this event could enjoy the historic attractions and delicious cuisines from Bali while also expanding their scientific horizons in the latest ophthalmic discoveries through the four-day congress that includes series of side events such as scientific sessions, symposium sessions, lab sessions, Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) luncheon, and Young Ophthalmologists Night were also held as part of the congress.
